Music Lesson Plans

Music lesson plans for kids, you might ask?

Think about it. We tend to entertain our babies and young children with good old-timer songs that we don't even remember the words anymore. We start dancing to the rhythm of the song, uttering the few words that we remember from our childhood. I want to provide you with some alternative wording and easy to remember words for well-known children songs for learning.

This can be lots of fun for the whole family!! You can even compose your own words or ask older children to put some creativity to it. You can make it a kind of fun competition if you like. Kids music lessons can be fun for very young children as well. You can even great your own music games for children and share it with us.

Let's start with a well known song for our first music activity!!

  • "Twinkle, twinkle little star”

Think of the song and start singing the following alternative words:

Flutter, flutter butterfly
Floating in the summer sky.
Floating by for all to see,
Floating by so merrily.
Flutter, flutter butterfly,
Floating in the summer sky.

Now, wasn't that fun! At first you need to concentrate to sing the correct words but believe me, once you've tried it a few times, you will know it by heart and start composing your own verses and music lesson plans.

Number Songs:

  • “Ten Little Indians” is also a very nice tune to use with your own words:

One little, two little,
three little birds,
four little, five little,
six little birds,
seven little, eight little,
nine little birds,
all sitting in their nest.

Baby Songs:

  • Let's try “Row, row, row your boat” with a few different variations:

  • The Bunny Song:

  • Flop, flop, flop your ears
    Flop them up and down
    Flop, flop, flop your ears
    Flop them all around.

  • The Rain Song:

  • Rain, rain, rain falling
    Falling on the ground
    Pitter, patter, pitter, patter
    What a lovely sound.

  • The Airplane Song:

  • Fly, fly, fly your plane
    Fly your plane up high
    Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
    High up in the sky.

  • Another easy tune to make up your own song is, “Frere Jacques”

  • :

Turn around x2 down,
Falling on the ground
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter
What a lovely sound.

Touch your head x2
Do a little jumping x2
Squat real low

Helicopter, helicopter
In the sky, in the sky
Flying all around
Going up and down
In the sky, in the sky.

See, it's lots of fun for everyone.

This music activity for kids songs will not only entertain them but also expand their vocabulary. You can even play appropriate games with the music activity. You don't need formal music lesson plans, you can make up your own. Use your imagination. Think like a child again and design your own music games for children and music lessons for kids.
